Our experienced instructors combine theory revision, practical boat training and assessment in one structured course. You will learn in a supportive environment with comfortable classroom facilities, practical guidance and transparent all-inclusive pricing.
The Recreational Skipper’s Ticket is the qualification required to operate a recreational vessel powered by a motor greater than 6 hp in Western Australia. It is sometimes informally called a boat licence, but it is a competency held by the skipper not the vessel’s registration.

Getting your ticket should be more than simply passing a test. Our goal is to help you leave with the practical skills, safety knowledge and confidence needed to operate a recreational boat responsibly.

A FREE practical assessment DVD & practice questions are emailed to you once a booking is made.
Your course combines the knowledge and practical components required for the Recreational Skipper’s Ticket assessment.
Before the course, you will receive the RST workbook and preparation information. On the day, your instructor will review the key knowledge areas, complete the theory assessment, demonstrate the required practical skills and give you time to practise before your practical assessment.
Course times can vary depending on the number of students and individual training needs. The current scheduled program generally runs from the morning until early afternoon.
Sea Safe Boat School operates from Maylands, close to the Perth CBD and directly connected to the Swan River. The location provides a practical setting for learning boat handling while giving students access to classroom facilities, parking, toilets and protection from Perth weather conditions.
Our Maylands location is suitable for students travelling from across Perth, including the eastern suburbs, northern suburbs, southern suburbs and central Perth.
